Eric Katz is a Research Professional at the University of Georgia. He is actively involved in Integrated Pest Management and Molecular Diagnostic research for the State of Georgia. His primary research involves conducting genetic research on honey bees and their pests, including use of microsatellite and mitochondrial DNA markers to quantify colony-level parasite and pathogen loads in honey bees; as well as identifying genes expressed in response to disease agents, and developing methods to screen bees for disease resistance. Prior to working with honey bees, Eric engaged in graduate research focusing on the population ecology of herpetofauna with conservation applications.
