UGA
ecologists contribute to report on the state of river
restoration Top river-systems experts, including two UGA
ecologists, report on the state of efforts to restore U.S. streams
and rivers in today's issue of the journal Science. About three
years ago, researchers from eight universities and river
conservation groups formed a partnership to improve the science and
practice of river restoration. The group began by compiling the
first comprehensive database on nationwide river restoration
projects. Judy Meyer, UGA Distinguished Research Professor of
Ecology, and Elizabeth Sudduth, a master's degree graduate from the
UGA Institute of Ecology now at Duke University , led the effort to
collect and analyze data for the Southeast.

AMAZING STUDENT: Angela
Aifah UGA was not senior Angela Aifah's first choice. Her
parents picked the university for her because her brother had
attended, but now she holds a fondness for her experience here. In
her time at the university, she has become a leader in the Model
United Nations program and the Model African Union program. She has
been a member of the UGA Black Affairs Council since she was a
freshman, and she worked as an intern for District Attorney Ken
Maudlin. After graduation, she wants to take a year off and then go
to law school. |
